Our Classes Explained

YOU Flow

Our signature dynamic class will take you through a powerful flow designed to make you sweat, mobilise your body, build strength and stamina and take a break from the daily hustle and bustle. Develop your practice, deepen familiar postures and challenge yourself to tackle progression in a safe environment. A balanced complement to other forms of exercise such as cardiovascular training or resistance training and ideal for those with an established level of fitness. Not suitable for beginners or pregnancy.

YOU Slow Flow

Our signature Slow Flow, designed to help you let go of any stress and tension is an immersive flow class which is designed to give you the time to perfect your poses and practice safely.  The pace is slower and includes some strong poses to help build your strength, stamina and confidence.  This class is suitable for beginners as all poses are modified for the different levels and props are available for support.  We offer a more mellow slow flow option as well as a slightly more challenging session – all are carefully designed around YOU.

Yin Yoga

A slow paced style of yoga with poses that are held for longer periods of time than in other styles of yoga.  Yin offers a wealth of benefits that may help to alleviate pain and tension, relieve stress and anxiety and improve overall well-being.  Great for beginners and those who may have injuries or long-term health conditions. However, this practice is also good for more advanced yogis who may stay in a pose for 5 minutes or more.

Yin enables true yoga to happen.

Restore the Balance

A slow paced class where the poses are held for longer.  In this class we incorporate props such as bolster cushions, blankets, yoga blocks to relax the body, reduce stress, and to prepare for some deep breath practice (pranayama).  Expect pure relaxation in our little haven, where the sounds and the smells create the perfect tranquil environment.

Hot Yoga

Expect to sweat in this class!  A fast paced flow in the studio where the temperature is cranked up.  We start the class with breathing practice to acclimatise to the surroundings, move through mobilisation and sun salutations into a flow of different poses designed to challenge your mind and body.  Bring a towel!

Yoga Sculpt

Yoga Sculpt combines vinyasa flow yoga with resistance training and cardio interval training. A class that ensures your heart gets pumping, your blood flowing, all whilst challenging your balance and core!

Think traditional yoga poses and sequencing incorporating strength training with hand weights and resistance bands to intensify each yoga pose. Yoga Sculpt is the perfect blend of mind and body providing a calorie and fat-burning workout with the many mental benefits of yoga.

Revive and Restore

This is one of our favourites!  The class starts with grounding and mobilisation of the major joints of the body.  Then we focus on developing strength and stamina to revive your body and mind.  You’ll experience some amazing stretches and poses that will challenge but will also feel amazing. The second part of this hour long session is where we restore the balance – a half hour deep relaxation using bolsters, straps and blocks to enable deep rest and relaxation.  So as the name suggests, you will leave revived and restored.

Yoga Nidra

Sometimes referred to as yogic sleep, is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, like the “going-to-sleep” stage. Feel your body melt away into a soothing state of being, induced by a guided meditation.  Don’t worry, we’ll gently wake you up if you do nod off!

Well Woman

Would you like to find YOU again?  We know what you mean!  This session is our very own creation based on personal experience and what women need when faced with the stresses of life which could include hormonal imbalances, pressures of work or family life or recovering from illness.  If you find that you are lacking in motivation and confidence and want to find YOU again this class could be the answer.  The session starts with gentle yoga to settle the mind and body. We then work with light hand weights on exercises that will help to build strength and bone density – simple moves with expert instruction on technique to avoid injury. We then sink into some deep yin yoga stretches to calm and balance the mind and body and finish with a wonderfully relaxing savasana (meditation). At Yoga Universe we are passionate about being a haven for everyone and our community is always friendly and welcoming with absolutely no egos.  Whatever your physical or mental state, we are here for you.
